Humayun’s Tomb

After seeing photos on the net and doing a little reading, Humayun’s Tomb was on my must-see list.

Like all other monuments, everyone had to go through a metal detector and be patted down before entering the grounds.

Construction began in 1562. Thirty acres of gardens surround the tomb.

This was the first garden tomb built in India.

Nasir ud-din Muhammad Humayun was India’s second Mughal emperor. He was known to be extremely forgiving, even towards those who were disloyal, and even to a brother who tried to kill him.
